Pupil Premium funding

The school receives Pupil Premium funding based on the number of pupils in the school who are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or who have received free school meals at sometime within the past 6 years.

Families who receive certain benefits may qualify for free school meals. Your child may be entitled to free school meals if you’re in receipt of one of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400.
    Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190

Please note: ALL children in Year R & KS1 are entitled to free school meals up to the end Year 2. However, if you meet the criteria above, whatever year group your child is in, we may be able to receive additional funding for the school.

How the Funding is Used

This money is allocated to improve pupil attainment and to help overcome any barriers to learning. Nationally, the statistics show that pupils who are in receipt of FSM do less well than their peers. The aim of this money is to try to close the attainment gap.

In making provision for socially disadvantaged children, we recognise that not all children who receive FSM will be socially disadvantaged. We also recognise that not all children who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for FSM. The school therefore allocates the Pupil Premium Funding to support any child or group of children we have been identified as being socially disadvantaged or who need to ‘catch up’ with their peers.

This report shows how we spend this money. This maybe for booster sessions, interventions, enrichment activities, training for staff, resources or clubs/trips.

How to Register

Registering for free meals could raise money for our school to fund valuable extra tuition, additional school activities, training, and help subsidise clubs and trips.

If you think you are eligible (or would like more advice) please get in touch with the school office and we will help you complete the relevant paperwork. It is very important that we claim for this funding for your child if they are entitled to receive it.
